Membership of the UNP MPs Palitha Range Bandara, P. Thewarapperuma and A. Abeysinghe have been temporarily suspended pending inquiry after they attended the rally headed by Sarath Fonseka.

The rally organized by the United Bikhu Front in which Sarath Fonseka was headlining took place today (October 18) at Hyde Park.

The rally was organized against the Executive Presidential system while other opposition parties were also invited to join.

However, most of the opposition parties were apprehensive about joining the rally including the UNP which decided not to support the rally after its Working Committee held discussions regarding it.

Karu Jayasuriya who initially supported the rally decided not to attend as well.

The JVP also took a decision not to join the rally.
