CB to issue Rs.1,000 coin to mark Sri Lanka-Japan relations

The Central Bank is to issue silver commemorative coin of a face value of Rs. 1,000 to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of Japan.
The 57th in the series of commemorative coins issued by the CBSL, the coin is minted by the Japan Mint on the request of the Government of Japan.
The coin will be officially handed over to President Mahinda Rajapaksa by the Central Bank Governor, Ajith Nivard Cabraal today (12).
The diameter of the silver coin is 35.0 mm and has a weight of 20.0 grams.
A limited number of coins will be sold by the CBSL at a price of Rs. 12,500 a coin at the cash counters of the CBSL Head Office, Money Museums at Center for Banking Studies and CBSL Provincial Offices at Anuradhapura, Matara, Matale, Jaffna and Trincomalee from Thursday (15).
