VIDEO: 11 injured as bus driver falls asleep at the wheel

At least 11 persons were injured and hospitalized after a luxury private bus traveling from Colombo to Matara crashed into a wall at Randobe in Balapitiya this morning.

Five of the wounded persons are said to be in critical condition and have been admitted to the Karapitiya Hospital, Ada Derana reporter said.

The accident occurred at around 5.00am today (27) and was reportedly caused due to the driver of the bus falling asleep at the wheel.

Ada Derana reporter said that passengers in the bus had warned and shouted at the driver as he had also fallen asleep several time during the journey to Matara prior to the crash.
