Suspect of Kebithigollewa bus bombing receives five year sentence

A former LTTE member and
suspect of the claymore bomb attack on a bus in Kebithigollewa in 2006, which
claimed the lives of 68 persons, was sentenced to five years in prison by the
Anuradhapura High Court after he entered a guilty plea.
The suspect was
accused of signaling the terrorist outfit while atop a tree during the attack.
He pleaded guilty to the charge when the case was taken up at courts today (October
24). However, no charges of attempted murder or accomplice to a murder were
brought against the suspect.
The attack occurred
on June 13, 2006 in the Yakawewa area in Kebithigollewa when a SLTB bus was
attacked with claymores by the LTTE which killed 68 persons and injured another
