One person killed following gas leak and fire at Galle harbour

One person was killed and another injured in a gas leak and fire that erupted in an ice manufacturing plant at the Galle fisheries harbour early this morning (October 31).

 

The two victims were both taken to the Karapitiya hospital following the incident while one succumbed to his injuries.

 

The deceased victim was a 55 year old employee of the Fisheries Corporation and a resident of Piliyandala.

 

The Galle Fire Department and the Ceylon Electricity Board worked together to douse the fire while the gas leak has also been brought under control, police stated.
