Seychelles woman arrested with foreign currency

A foreigner has been arrested by customs officers at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake for attempting to leave the country with undeclared foreign currency worth around Rs 6.5 million this morning.
The 45-year-old woman, a citizen of Seychelles, had attempted to board a flight (UL 131) to Trichy in Tamil Nadu at 7.20am today with undeclared foreign currency, including US dollars, Euros and Singapore dollars.
Customs media spokesman Leslie Gamini said the woman had declared only 1000 Singapore dollars on her departure.
Further investigations are being carried out by airport customs, he said.
