Man arrested transporting 256 bottles of illicit liquor

A suspect was arrested by officers of the Chilaw Division Anti-Vice Squad while transporting 256 bottles of illicit liquor in a three wheeler in the Galmuruwa area in Madampe.
The bottles of illicit liquor were placed inside polythene bags and transported in a secretive manner in order to avoid rousing suspicion, police said.
The suspects had confessed that he had been transporting the illicit liquor haul from Galmuruwa to Dummalasuriya.
The arrested man along with the goods and three-wheeler have been handed over to Madampe Police to be produced before court.
The operation was carried out by a team led by the OIC of the Chilaw Division Anti-Vice Squad.
