Mother, daughter and son arrested with Rs.6m in gold

Three members of the same family, including two women, have been arrested at the Katunayake International Airport for attempting to smuggle out of the country undeclared gold jewelry worth over Rs 6 million.
Customs media spokesman Leslie Gamini stated that the suspects were arrested last night when they were preparing to board a flight to India.
Unfinished gold jewelry, including bracelets, rings and chains, weighing over 1 kilogram were found in their possession, he said.
The arrested suspects are said to be a mother, her daughter and son from Kotahena.
Sri Lanka Customs are conducting further investigations.
