DMDK chief Vaiko on Friday met Prime Minister-elect Narendra Modi and conveyed his concerns on the invitation sent to Sri Lanka for his swearing-in ceremony. Vaiko, who had earlier written a letter to Modi, said that the leader heard him patiently for 25 minutes.
“Modi was accompanied by (Arun) Jaitley and (Amit) Shah. I gave them the documents against (Sri Lankan president) Rajapaksa. Jaitley told me this is a national problem” Vaiko said after coming out of the meeting.
The Tamil Nadu political class - including Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, DMK chief M Karunanidhi and PMK chief Ramadoss - have expressed their displeasure over the invite to Mahinda Rajapaksa for Modi’s swearing-in ceremony.
