VIDEO: Development either a lie or benefitting a single family – UNP

The United National Party (UNP) today questioned why the per capita income and development, constantly being boasted by the government, is not reaching the homes of public sector and private sector employees.

Either the per capita income and development as claimed by the government is a lie or else the benefits of this development are being distributed among one family, UNP MP Joseph Michael Perera told reporters in Colombo.

Giving an example for this, the Parliamentarian stated that the government is not giving significant concessions to fishermen and farmers, but it is giving big concession to casinos.

He stated that true development is not the construction of roads or starting big businesses, it is the continuous spread of the profits with the working masses in the country.

Perera said that what is happening right now is the exact opposite of that. They are boasting big profits while improving a family, he claimed.
