At least thirteen school children have been hospitalised after a bus collided head-on with a lorry in the Maraba area on the Akuressa-Deniyaya road today.

Police said that the bus, transporting the students, was traveling from Deniyaya to Akuressa when it collided with a lorry traveling on the opposite direction.

The thirteen students, including 8 girls, were admitted to the Akuressa Hospital due to suffering from shock after the accident.

Both the driver of the school bus and the driver of the lorry have been arrested over the incident.
