Thundershowers expected during afternoon and night

The Department of Meteorology today said that showers or thundershowers will occur over most parts of the island particularly during the afternoon and night. Heavy falls (more than 100mm) are also likely at some places.
Showers are expected to occur in the Western and Southern coastal areas during the morning as well.
There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers, the department said, while urging the public to take adequate precautions to minimize the damages caused by lightning activities.
