A 9-year-old boy who disappeared with a monk in Horana was found near the Jethawanaramaya Stupa in Anuradhapura, this morning, Police Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana said.
A search operation had been launched since last afternoon to reveal whereabouts of the missing child following a complaint lodged by child’s grandmother with the Horana Police station, last afternoon.
“The child, his mother and grandmother with the monk had gone to buy a cycle. However, the monk had disappeared with the child while the two women went in to a bank at the Horana town,” SSP Rohana said.
A police officer at the Ruwanwelisaya police post who spotted the monk and the child had questioned them, and later alerted the Horana police, it was reported.
“The monk is taken into custody. He will be produced before the Magistrate, today,” SSP Rohana added.
