Army deserter shoots himself in Wariyapola

A soldier attached to the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) camp in Mullaitivu, who deserted after stealing a T56 rifle, has committed suicide by shooting himself in the Habagama area in Wariyapola.

Police said the individual had deserted the army on December 01 and that he was found dead last night.

Police suspect that the army deserter had committed suicide over a personal dispute with his girlfriend.
