The Colombo-Katunayake Expressway will be open for all vehicles, including motorcycles, toll free from 6.00pm today due to the closure of the Colombo-Negombo Road for the Pope’s visit, police said.

However, the maximum speed limit for vehicles using the expressway during the time period has been set to 70kmph.

The police department yesterday announced that Colombo-Negombo Road will be closed for traffic from 6.00pm on Monday (Jan 12) to 12noon on Tuesday (Jan 13) and that, however, the expressway can be used toll-free during that time period.
