Wattala PS Chairman assaulted, evicted from chamber

The Chairman of the Wattala Pradeshiya Sabha, R.A. Thyagaratna Alwis, was reportedly assaulted and forcefully removed from the chamber during the monthly session of the local government institution this morning.

The Wattala Pradeshiya Sabha’s first session of the year convened had today, chaired by the PS Chairman.

However, an argument during the session had escalated to a physical altercation resulting in several PS members assaulting the Chairman and forcefully evicting him from the chamber.

Police said that four PS members including the Chairman have been admitted to the Ragama Teaching Hospital following the incident.
