Gazette notice on Pudukuduirippu and Maritimepattu polls today

The Government will issue a gazette notification with respect to the polls for Maritimepattu and Pudukuduirippu Pradeshiya Sabhas in the Mullaittivu District, today.

 

According to the Elections Commissioner, elections for Maritimepattu and Pudukuduirippu Pradeshiya Sabhas will be held on the 28 February.

 

Local government polls for the Pudukuduirippu Pradeshiya Sabha and the Maritimepattu Pradeshiya Sabha were not held since 2011, due to a court order. 

 

An injunction order had been issued by the Court of Appeal preventing the elections in these two Pradeshiya Sabhas, following a petition filed by two refugees residing at the Menik Farm.
