Arachchikattuwa PS member arrested for impersonating a cop

A UPFA member of the Arachchikattuwa Pradeshiya Sabha, M. Prabath Fernanado, has been arrested in the Wella area in Chilaw for allegedly impersonating a police officer.
Police said the suspect was arrested last evening after he was involved in argument with officers attached to the Chilaw Police responsible for carrying out drug-related raids.
The local politician who was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of his arrest had allegedly impersonated a police officer.
He is to be produced at the Chilaw District Court while further investigations are to be carried out by a police team led by Chilaw Police Headquarters Inspector W. Herath.
