Ex-teacher sentenced to 20 years RI for molesting student

A former teacher found guilty of molesting a student in 2006 has been sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment by the Anuradhapura High Court.

The man, a resident of Palugaswewa in Horiwila, was charged with molesting a 14-year-old boy in the Anuradhapura area on July 15, 2006.

Anuradhapura High Court Judge Dhammika Ganepola sentenced the former teacher to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and also ordered him to pay a sum of Rs 150,000 to the victim as compensation.
