Police Inspector arrested for assaulting woman

A Police Inspector attached to the Medirigiriya Police Station has been arrested for assaulting a woman in Palugasdhamana, Polonnaruwa.
The suspect was arrested following a complaint made by the assaulted woman accusing him of assaulting her, due to an argument over a land dispute.
However, the police officer has been released on bail by court while Medirigiriya Police is conducting further investigations.
