A Sri Lankan Tamil, Y. Srijeyan (39), housed in a special camp in Tiruchi, sustained a head injury after he was allegedly assaulted by two other inmates on Sunday night.

He is undergoing treatment at Mahatma Gandhi Government Hospital in Tiruchi. E. Eswaran and B. Sivasankaran have been named as the accused by the police.

Sources said there was a money dispute between Srijeyan and the other two for a while. Eswaran and Sivasankaran were later arrested.

The special camp at the Central Prison currently houses 19 inmates, all of them Sri Lankan Tamils.
