Provincial Councillor arrested for threatening man with gun

UPFA Western Provincial Council member Thushara Perera has been arrested for allegedly threatening a three-wheeler driver with a firearm, police said. 

The Katunayake Airport Police had received a complaint alleging that the Provincial Councillor had pointed a revolver at the three-wheeler driver and threatened him in connection with a traffic accident. 

As a result of the complaint, Airport Police searched the politician’s vehicle and recovered a firearm from inside it. Perera was subsequently arrested by police this afternoon, the Police Media Unit said.
