Three Indian fishermen injured in attack by naval personnel?

July 20, 2015   12:47 pm

Three Indian fishermen were injured when they were allegedly attacked by Sri Lankan naval personnel off Katchatheevu, the Press Trust of India reported.

The article said that the naval personnel had allegedly pelted stones and threw bottles at the fishermen and also cut the fishing nets of five boats.

The fishermen were part of a group of about 2,300 who had put out to sea yesterday from here in 565 boats, Indian Fishermen’s Association leader Sagayan has told reporters. Fearing further attacks, the other fishermen returned to shore without any catch, he said.
