Three killed after high tension line fell on their vehicle

Three army soldiers were electrocuted to death after a high tension line fell on their van as they were travelling on the Galle- Gintota road, a short while ago on Tuesday (03) afternoon, the police say.


According to the police, there were eight persons inside the vehicle which belongs to a driving school in Ambalangoda.


"The vehicle caught fire soon after the line fell on it. The other persons including the van driver have been admitted to the Karapitiya Teaching hospital for treatments," an officer said.


It took more than an hour to extricate the victims from the wreckage of the van, it was reported.
