Akila calls for report on mechanism to admit students for A/L classes

The Education Minister has called for a report regarding the mechanism to admit new students for Advanced Level classes at popular schools across the country.

The Ministry sources said the decision was taken following complaints received by it on the improper procedure of several schools when enrolling new students.

Accordingly, Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has directed the authorities to elaborate on the procedure to hold interviews and explain if the student needs to pay an enrollment fee.

The Ministry also requested the public to contact 1988 if there are any complaints to be made with respect to this.
