A procession was organized along the Gannoruwa-Kandy main road to display a 3.2Km long saree trail designed for a Kandyan bride in an attempt to establish a Guinness World Record yesterday (21).

The saree which was designed by Manjula Thilakaratne of Mala Saree Centre was displayed by 250 children of the Alwathugoda Sarath Ekanayake Primary School.

The procession was held under the patronage of Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake who attended the event along with several other dignitaries.

The existing Guinness record for the longest saree trail is held by an Indian bride who had created a 2.8 kilometre saree trail.
