Indian female nabbed while attempting to smuggle gold at BIA

A 45-year old Indian female who was trying to smuggle gold pieces out of Sri Lanka was intercepted by AASL security and handed over to the BIA customs staff. 

The suspect was bound to Chennai via flight UL 127 at 12.30pm yesterday (25).

Following an inquiry into the incident two raw pieces of gold valued at Rs.628,540 were confiscated from the luggage of the suspect. 

Customs officials released the suspect following the imposition of a Rs.10,000 penalty for the offence of non-declaration.
