Over 50 injured in head-on collision between buses

More than fifty passengers have sustained injuries in an accident that took place near the Lunugamvehera bus stand on the Hambantota-Wellawaya main road this afternoon (12).

A private bus that had been en route to Ampara from Matara has collided head-on with an SLTB bus, which had been travelling from Dehiattakandiya to Matara.

Reportedly, over 50 persons including the drivers of both buses were admitted to Debarawewa and Hambantota hospitals after sustaining injuries in the accident.

Lunugamvehera Police is conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
