Jagath Wickramasinghe appointed chairman of Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation

Veteran musician Jagath Wickramasinghe has been appointed as Chairman of Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC).

The engineer-turned-musician was first employed at the SLBC in the early 1990s as a music producer. He is best known for his songs namely, Saagara Tharanga and Obe Sina Langa. He also earned success as an actor in teledramas such as Kande Gedara, Doodaruwo, Devi, Shoba Saha Darshana and Piya Satahan.

Wickramasinghe, a Sangeet Visharad in music, pursued his studies at Bhatkhande Music Institute in Lucknow, India.
