Health officials request the public to only visit the National Eye Hospital in the event of an emergency due to the risk of the spread of Coronavirus (Covid-19).
Director of the hospital Dr W.L.L.U.C. Kumarathilaka requested the general public to only visit the National Eye Hospital for accidents-related clinical treatment and essential services, during this period.
The Director of the National Eye Hospital stated that around 3,000 persons visit the hospital on a daily basis for treatment and services, and that such a large gathering at one place increases the risk of the virus possibly spreading.
As the government has decided to limit as many large gatherings of people as possible to prevent the spread of the virus in the country, the public is requested to visit the National Eye Hospital only in the case of an emergency and essential services while they are also urged to visit the Eye clinic of the nearest government hospital for treatment, Kumarathilaka said.
