Schoolchildren to be given uniform material before March 20

Uniform material for the year 2023 will be provided to schoolchildren before March 20, the Minister of Education says.
Speaking further, Dr. Susil Premajayantha mentioned that the government of China has agreed to fulfil 70% of the uniform material requirements of Sri Lankan schoolchildren.
Accordingly, China has delivered a donation of school uniform material worth USD 4.24 million to Sri Lankan students to meet their requirements in 2023.
The first batch of the total donation, containing 3 million fabric meters of school uniform material, reached the Colombo Port yesterday.
According to the Chinese Embassy in Colombo, school uniform material donation would fully cover the requirement of Northern, Eastern, Uva and North Central provinces, and 70% of the requirement of the other provinces of the country.
