UNP memberships of over 1,000 local councilors to be suspended

The United National Party (UNP) has unanimously decided to suspend the party memberships of 1,137 UNP Local Government (LG) body members.
Accordingly, the decision was taken by the working committee of the UNP due to said members extending their support to other parties in the run-up to the election, due to be held on 09 March 2023.
