Woman dies after being shot in Medirigiriya

A woman died in a shooting incident reported from Medirigiriya on Thursday night (June 15), the police said.
The 36-year-old was shot by an unidentified individual hiding near her residence in Mirishena fishing village.
She succumbed to injuries while receiving medical attention at the Medirigiriya Base Hospital.
According to police suspicions, the gunman was the deceased woman’s paramour, who purportedly opened fire at her over a personal dispute.
The police have initiated investigations to apprehend the perpetrator who fled the area after the gunfire.
