The Sri Lanka Transport (SLTB) has confirmed that buses plying on the Southern Expressway are operating as usual, despite the earth slip reported on Wednesday night (11 Oct.).

Accordingly, issuing a release in this regard, the SLTB noted that although vehicular movement remains disrupted between Pinnaduwa and Imaduwa interchanges as a result of the earth slip, highway buses are now operating as usual.

However, those buses entering Colombo are required to exit the Southern Expressway from the Pinnaduwa Interchange, and later re-enter the highway through the Imaduwa interchange.

As such, motorists entering the Southern Expressway from the direction of Galle are advised to exit from the Imaduwa interchange while motorists arriving from the direction of Colombo are urged to exit from the Pinnaduwa interchange.

Earlier, Director General of the Road Development Authority (RDA) L.V.S. Weerakoon said RDA authorities were working in tandem with Sri Lanka Army personnel to clear the blocked stretch of road.
