Milco employees arrested for holding chairman hostage granted bail

The 13 employees of Milco (Pvt) Ltd., arrested on Wednesday (25 Oct.) for holding Milco chairman Renuka Perera hostage, have been granted bail on orders of the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court.

Accordingly, the group was released today on a surety bail of Rs. 500,000 each.

Thirteen Milco employees were arrested by the Kollupitiya Police last night for holding the company’s chairman hostage over an issue based on employee benefits.

Perera was, however, released later, following the intervention of the police, reports revealed.
