Special public transport services for festive season begin today

Ministry of Transport and Highways says special public transport services will be in place for the festive season, starting today (Dec.22).
Accordingly, a fleet of additional 100 buses will be deployed for all long-distance journeys for the members of the public who plan to return to their respective hometowns for the holidays.
Meanwhile, the special train service for the festive season is scheduled to kick off tomorrow (Dec.23), the General Manager of Railways N.J. Indipolage mentioned.
Additionally, a special timetable has been introduced for the trains plying between Colombo Fort and Badulla, and it will be in place until December 31.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Police have implemented a special security plan nationwide ahead of the upcoming festive season. As such, police officers in civvies will be stationed at locations where the public is most likely to gather.
