January 26, 2024   12:21 pm

The electricity supply to the Bambalapitiya railway station has been disconnected owing to the non-payment of bills.

It was reported that for about two days, the functions of the railway station were carried out by using alternative lighting sources such as kerosene oil lamps. As a result, the commuters as well as the employees of the railway station including the station masters have reportedly been experiencing inconveniences.

A spokesperson of the railway station stated that the suspension of electricity supply has affected the proper delivery of announcements at the railway station.
