Three-day parliamentary debate on Easter attacks begins today

The three-day adjournment debate on the 2019 Easter Sunday terror attacks will be taken up in parliament today (24) in accordance with a motion brought forward by the Opposition.

The decision was taken at the meeting of the Parliamentary Business Committee convened earlier this month.

Soon after the commencement of the parliamentary proceedings today, the Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Bill (Second Reading) and Regulations under the Poisons, Opium and Dangerous Drugs Ordinance are scheduled to be debated from 9.30 a.m. to 10.30 p.m.

Subsequently, it has been decided to take up the adjournment debate on the Easter Sunday attacks from 10.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.

On Thursday (25), two Regulations under the Motor Traffic Act published under the Gazette Extraordinary No. 2338/39 and 2352/29, Notifications under the Excise Ordinance published under the Gazette Extraordinary No. 2364/35, Order under the Excise (Special Provisions) Act published under the Gazette Extraordinary No. 2364/36, Regulations under the Immigrants and Emigrants Act are scheduled to be approved following the debate from 9.30 a.m. to 10.30 p.m.

Thereafter, the adjournment debate on the Easter Sunday attacks will continue from 10.30 am to 5.30 pm.

On Friday (26), the adjournment debate on the Easter Sunday attacks will be carried on from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm for the third consecutive day.
