Heavy showers above 100mm expected in several districts

The Department of Meteorology says cloudy skies are expected over the South-western parts of the island. 

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern provinces while several spells of showers may occur in North-western province. 

Heavy showers above 100mm are likely at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts. 

Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places elsewhere of the island, the department said in its forecast for the next 36 hours. 

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers
