Second reading of ‘Sri Lanka Electricity Bill’ passed in Parliament

The second reading of the draft ‘Sri Lanka Electricity Bill’ was passed in the Parliament this evening (06) with a majority of 44 votes.

The number of votes received in favor of the bill was 103, while 59 MPs had voted against the bill.

Opposition parliamentarians including those from the ‘Samagi Jana Balawegaya’ (SJB), National People’s Power (NPP) and the independent MPs voted against the bill.
