30 factory workers hospitalised after inhaling toxic chemical fumes

At least thirty workers of a cosmetics manufacturing factory in Pinwatta, Panadura have been hospitalised after accidentally inhaling the fumes from a toxic chemical mixture.

Police said that the factory in question has been temporarily closed following the incident.

The incident has reportedly occurred due to the change of a chemical substance while making a chemical mixture at the factory which manufactures cosmetic products including perfumes.

The incident has taken place at around 09.30 a.m. this morning (12), the police revealed.

It is further reported that a group of workers have been admitted to the Panadura Base Hospital while another group was directed to private medical treatment.
