Man injured in shooting in Nivithigala

A shooting incident was reported in the Pathakada area in the Nivithigala police division today (26).

Police stated that investigations were launched based on information received regarding the incident.

According to the police, a 38-year-old resident of the Pathakada area of Dikovita Watta sustained injuries to his leg in the incident and is now receiving medical attention at the Nivithigala Hospital.

It was reported that an unidentified assailant who arrived on foot had fired a shot, and then fled the scene, while the victim was in the backyard of his house with a relative.

Police further stated that the motive behind the shooting has not yet been uncovered yet.
