Two navy intelligence personnel arrested over drug trafficking links

Two Sri Lanka Navy personnel attached to the Intelligence Unit have been arrested by the SL Navy Special Investigation Unit over their alleged involvement in a large-scale drug smuggling racket.

The two naval personnel from the Naval Intelligence were arrested today (30) following an extensive internal investigation by the Special Investigation Unit of the Sri Lanka Navy, a statement said.

The two naval personnel, arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting a large-scale drug smuggling racket, will be handed over to the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) for onward legal action, the navy said.
