Maximum retail price for medicines?

The National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) Act has been amended in order to introduce a price mechanism for determining the maximum retail price of medicines. 

This measure has been taken as per the instructions Minister of Health Ramesh Pathirana in view of ensuring the transparency and fairness in the pricing of pharmaceuticals.

Accordingly, a method has been introduced for determining the maximum retail price of particular drug, considering their dosage form and strength. 

The gazette notification related to the matter has also been published to formalize these changes.
