25 injured in lorry-bus collision on Chilaw-Colombo road

At least twenty-five persons were left injured after an SLTB bus collided with lorry transporting cement in the Galahitiyawa area of Madampe on the Chilaw-Colombo main road this morning (4).

The individuals injured in the accident have been admitted to the District General Hospital of Chilaw.

According to hospital sources, several injured passengers are in critical condition.

The accident occurred this morning as an SLTB bus travelling from Devala Junction to Colombo via Chilaw colliding with a lorry transporting cement travelling in the same direction from Puttalam to Colombo, due to the bus driver failing to control its speed.

Both the bus and lorry have sustained major damages following the accident, which had occurred during rainy weather conditions in the area.
