Two wanted underworld criminals arrested in Dubai and brought to Sri Lanka

Two underworld criminal figures wanted over their alleged involvement in multiple murders and illegal activities in the country, have been arrested by the CID in Dubai and brought to Sri Lanka.

The suspects, K. Dimuthu Chaturanga (26) and Dinesh Sharman (48), were escorted back to Sri Lanka early this morning (12), according to Public Security Minister Tiran Alles.

The suspects were brought to Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake by a team of four senior police officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). 

The two criminals, identified as Kaludura Dinesh Samantha de Silva alias “Babi”, a 48-year-old resident of Nugegoda, Colombo, and 26-year-old Kankanamlage Dimuthu Chaturanga Perera alias “Samitpura Chathu”, a resident of Samitpura, Mattakkuliya, were apprehended while they were hiding in Dubai. 

They had arrived at the BIA onboard a SriLankan Airlines flight at around 5.10 a.m. this morning.

It is reported that Dimuthu Chaturanga Perera alias “Samitpura Chathu” will be handed over to the Colombo Crime Division (CCD), while Dinesh Samantha de Silva alias “Babi” will be handed over to the Homicide and Organized Crime Investigation Division.
