Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara says that he has been notified that Kuwaiti authorities have arrested 24 Sri Lankans, including organizers and musicians, who attended an event organized by the JVP affiliated ‘Ethera Api’ organisation.

In a post on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), the minister further stated that he has contacted the Sri Lankan Embassy in Kuwait and that they are working with Kuwaiti officials to secure their release as soon as possible.

However, the minister did not provide any further details on the reasons for the said arrests.
