Four Indian fishermen arrested for poaching in Sri Lankan waters

A total of four Indian fishermen have been apprehended along with a fishing trawler while illegally poaching in Sri Lankan waters off Kovilan Lighthouse, Jaffna.

Sri Lanka Navy said that they were arrested during a special operation carried out by navy personnel together with Sri Lanka Coast Guard.

The seized trawler together with four Indian fishermen were brought to the Kankesanthurai Harbour and they will be handed over to the Mailadi Fisheries Inspector for onward legal proceedings, the navy said.
