Passenger arrested with foreign cigarettes worth Rs. 1.8M at BIA

A person who was in possession of a large stock of foreign cigarettes illegally brought into the country has been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake this morning (04).
Officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) at the BIA have arrested the suspected passenger who had arrived in Sri Lanka from Bahrain.
Police said that a total of 60 cartons containing 12,000 sticks of foreign-manufactured cigarettes, estimated to be worth around Rs. 1.8 million, were found concealed in his luggage.
