Ex-JVP MP places deposit for Presidential Election

Former Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Parliamentarian Siripala Amarasinghe has placed bonds today (05) to contest in the forthcoming Presidential Election as an independent candidate.

Amarasinghe is a former Member of Parliament from Gampaha District representing the JVP.

Accordingly, 15 candidates in total have placed their deposits with the Election Commission to contest for the presidency thus far.

This includes six independent candidates whose names have been nominated by a voter, eight candidates from recognized political parties and one candidate from other political parties.
